Lake Mburo National Park – Uganda’s Hidden Gem of the West
Discover the untamed beauty of Lake Mburo National Park with Zem Safaris, your trusted guide to Uganda’s most intimate wildlife experience. Located just a 4-hour drive from Kampala, this compact yet breathtaking park is a perfect stopover between Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Queen Elizabeth National Park, offering visitors a rich mix of wildlife, adventure, and scenic tranquility.
Covering 370 square kilometers, Lake Mburo National Park is Uganda’s smallest savannah national park—but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in diversity.
The park is named after Lake Mburo, one of five beautiful lakes within its boundaries, creating a stunning wetland ecosystem that supports a wide range of flora and fauna.
Lake Mburo is home to zebras, impalas, elands, topis, buffaloes, giraffes, and hippos, making it one of the best places in Uganda to see these animals up close. It is also the only park in the country where you can spot impalas and the largest population of zebras. For bird lovers, the park boasts over 350 bird species, including the African finfoot, papyrus gonolek, shoebill stork, and brown-chested lapwing—a true paradise for ornithologists.
